Bijrani Zone: The picturesque gem

It’s the second most popular zone of Jim Corbett National Park with dense Sal forests and diverse fauna which makes it ideal for giving a quintessential feel.

It’s located just 2 km from Ramnagar. Covering approximately 20 km², it is the top choice for tourists seeking a classic, high-intensity jungle experience.
Accessed via the Aamdanda Gate, it sits on the park’s eastern edge. It’s a stunning mix of vast grasslands (Chaurs), deep Sal forests, and dry riverbeds that offer wide, clear lines of sight. It’s opened from October 15th to June 30th and closed during the monsoon to protect its delicate forest tracks.
Statistically, Bijrani is often cited as having the highest tiger sighting probability due to its high prey base and open terrain. Many experts call it a compact version of the famous Dhikala zone because of its diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity.
It’s often said to be more vibrant and “alive” than other zones, where the constant alarm calls of spotted deer and langurs keep you on the edge of your seat.

Accommodation Inside Bijrani Zone

For an immersive wildlife experience, Bijrani Zone offers forest rest houses at Bijrani and Malani:

Bijrani Rest House:
This rest house features six rooms (four with double beds and two with single beds) and a dormitory with four beds. The compound includes a restaurant and canteen, offering freshly prepared meals. Elephant rides are also available for a unique jungle experience. Wildlife sightings, including tigers, sloth bears, and herds of elephants, are common in this area.
Malani Rest House:
Located 12 km northwest of Bijrani, this quaint rest house has two double-bed rooms and is a haven for birdwatchers and peace seekers. Built in the 1930s, it sits on the edge of the park’s core zone and offers stunning views of the surrounding grasslands and forests. Visitors often spot grazing deer, wild elephants, and even elusive predators like leopards and bears.
