Dhikala Jeep Safari: The Ultimate Wildlife Adventure

This is the most popular safari zone. It has the biggest area among all the zones and is widely known for it’s scenic display of grasslands, Ramganga reservoir and absolute chances of tiger-sighting.

Why Choose Dhikala for Your Safari?

To reach the Dhikala Forest Rest House, you enter through the Dhangarhi Gate (about 18 km from Ramnagar) and then drive another 32 km through dense, tiger-filled jungle just to reach the campus.

Staying at the Dhikala Forest Rest House (built over a hundred years ago) is a bucket-list item. Imagine hearing the roar of a tiger or the alarm call of a deer while you sip tea on your veranda. The Dhikala Chaur(grassland) is one of the largest grasslands in Asia. It’s a theater of nature—you might see a herd of 50 elephants grazing on one side, water flowing at other side of Ramganga reservoir and a tiger stalking prey on the other.

The Ramganga river is the lifeline here. You’ll see crocodiles and Gharials sunbathing on the banks, and it’s the best place to spot the rare Kalij Pheasant or Fish Eagles.

Dhikala Safari Booking Details

Safari procedure: You cannot take a day safari in your own or a private jeep here. You can only enter for a day trip via the Canter Safari (a 16-seater open bus). To take a private Jeep Safari, you must have a booking to stay overnight in one of the forest lodges.

Booking in Advance: Reservations must be made in advance through the official Corbett National Park website or authorized tour operators.

Safari Slots: Visitors can choose between morning and evening safari slots, with options for half-day or full-day excursions.
Strict Timing: The zone is strictly closed during the monsoon. It typically opens from November 15th to June 15th.

The Hunt for Permits: Getting a room here is like winning the lottery. Bookings open 45 days in advance on the official government website and usually vanish within minutes.
