Mohaan Zone Safari

Mohaan- Echoes of the Ravine

About 30 km away from Ramnagar, this recently added zone is distinguished by its dense forest canopy and Kosi River bank drives. It offers a raw wilderness experience with frequent sightings of Bengal tigers, wild elephants and rare bird species. It is a quiet journey where the river’s flow meets the deep stillness of the woods.

Canyons & Currents: The Mohaan Wilderness

The Mohaan Safari Zone is one of the most underrated and atmospheric gates of the Corbett landscape. It’s located along the Ramnagar-Ranikhet highway.
Just imagine a landscape where the dense Sal forests of the plains meet the rocky foothills of the Himalayas. This zone is a place of shadows and steep ravines, where the air feels cooler and the silence is deeper.
It is situated about 25-30 km from Ramnagar, and is accessible via the Mohan Gate on the way to Marchula. It’s characterized by hilly terrain, deep valleys, and the presence of the Kosi River flowing nearby. This zone is a prime corridor for Leopards, Migratory Elephants, Sloth Bears, and Barking and is exceptionally rich in Himalayan bird species that aren’t usually seen in the lower zones.
As your jeep climbs the winding forest trails, you aren’t just looking for wildlife; you are navigating the ancient terrain of the Kosi River basin. It feels like a “hidden” jungle—the kind of place where you expect a leopard to be watching you from a high branch, perfectly camouflaged against the stone and leaf.
