Jhirna zone is currently the most suggested zone as it has become a popular tiger sighting hotspot since 2019 due to growing predator population.
The Jhirna Tourism Zone is the only year-round gateway to Jim Corbett National Park, located 16 km from Ramnagar. Spanning approximately 14 km² of diverse topography, it is a favorite for those seeking consistent wildlife sightings regardless of the season.
Accessed via the Dhela Gate, it sits on the sourthern edge of the park.
There is a mix of dry deciduous forest, secondary scrub, and sprawling Lanthana bushes, which provide excellent cover for predators.Unlike other zones, Jhirna remains open throughout the monsoon (subject to road conditions), making it the “evergreen” choice for tourists. Jhirna is globally renowned as the best spot in Corbett to witness the Sloth Bear in its natural habitat. Originally a farming village, the area was relocated in 1994. Today, seeing the forest reclaim the old village ruins adds a haunting, beautiful layer to the safari.
30 jeeps per shift are permitted over here.
Currently this zone is coming in the spotlight as it is offering huge chances of tiger sighting.

Jhirna is the only Jim Corbett zone open year-round, including through the monsoon when most other zones close. That makes it the most reliable option if your travel dates fall outside the standard November-June safari season.

Jhirna is the only Corbett zone open year-round, including July through mid-November when every other gate closes to protect breeding wildlife. This isn’t a loophole — the zone’s terrain and lower water table make vehicle access safer during heavy rain, which is exactly why the Forest Department kept it open. If your travel dates only allow a monsoon-season visit, Jhirna is effectively your only safari option in Corbett — and given its strong recent tiger-sighting record, that’s far from a consolation prize.
